Bishop Field and Playground, Montclair

Frederick H. Bishop, a Civil War veteran of the 14th Infantry born on March 30, 1848, lived on Summit Avenue most of his life. This park, dedicated in his honor, has children’s playground equipment, a baseball and softball field, a basketball and street hockey court and five lighted tennis courts across the street from the Montclair Elementary School. A plaque was also dedicated at this park in 1996 in honor of long-time Montclair resident Joseph Gildea.
