Back Roads of the South Shore

A collaborative of nineteen historic sites in eight towns along the South Shore offering historic, hidden treasures in a relaxed, scenic atmosphere. Route 3A traces the “Mattachusetts Payth” between Boston and Plymouth, possibly the oldest public highway in the state. Meandering along the trail of Native American feet, Pilgrim carts, and the stagecoaches of the early Republic, this “Old Coast Road” connects these historic homes.
