Starting with the City’s Signature Flag Day Celebration on Saturday, June 16, Discover Quincy is partnerting with many local organizations to showcase Quincy’s arts and culture, community, educations, historic and recreational assets. Each day will feature at least one free event, while some events may accept donations and others may have an admission fee. Click here to review the 2019 schedule of events. 

Saturday, August 10, 2019 - 2:00pm

Come cheer on Quincy's hometown professional lacrosse team, the Boston Cannons versus Atlanta Blaze at 5:00 p.m.. Teams belong to Major League Lacrosse. Food and merchandise concessions are open. Prior to the game, the Cannons Fan Festival features a concert starting at 2 pm when gates officially open for the general public. The music will be able to be heard throughout our Fan Festival area where families can go and have a bite to eat and a drink pregame.The Adam Ezra Group is a folk band from the Boston area that focuses on the idea of building a community through their music.

Come cheer on Quincy's hometown professional lacrosse team, the Boston Cannons versus Dallas Rattlers at 5:00 p.m.. Teams belong to Major League Lacrosse. Food and merchandise concessions are open. Prior to the game, the Cannons Fan Festival features a concert starting at 2 pm when gates officially open for the general public. The music will be able to be heard throughout our Fan Festival area where families can go and have a bite to eat and a drink pregame. The James Montgomery Band is a blues band which was formed in 1970 when leadman James Montgomery was in school at Boston University.

Having served a distinguished 10 year career as flagship of the US Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean and the Second Fleet in the Atlantic, the USS Salem served as host to such notables as the US Ambassador to Spain, John D. Lodge; the Honorable Thomas S. Gates, Undersecretary of the Navy; Admiral Arleigh A. Burke, USN, Chief of Naval Operations; the Shah of Iran; the President of Lebanon and the King and Queen of Greece. Although Salem never fired her mighty guns in anger, her very presence served as a stimulus for peace during those troubled times that came to be called the Cold War.

Blue Hill Meteorological Observatory, located at the top of a scenic mountain range south of Boston, is a unique American institution. Founded in 1885 by Abbott Lawrence Rotch as a private scientific center for the study and measurement of the atmosphere, it was the site of many pioneering weather experiments and discoveries. The earliest kite soundings of the atmosphere in North America in the 1890s and the development of the radiosonde in the 1930s occurred at this historic site.

A walk through Quincy Center takes you on a voyage through time from the earliest colonial days, to the era of the Adams, Quincy and Hancock families, and to Quincy's decades of the national center of granite quarrying and building. Adams and Hancock Streets in Quincy Center are part of one of the oldest roads in America.
