In connection with our special exhibition Head to Toe, Historic New England welcomes hat collector Lorraine Muratore-Pires for a lecture on the colorful history of headwear. Lorraine’s hat collection has more than 500 pieces. See examples of some of her unique hats and hear the stories behind them.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for a reception with refreshments and an opportunity to explore Head to Toe.

Three local iconic garden estates will host the 2nd Annual Blue Hills Great Estates Fall Foliage Weekend, showcasing their autumn landscapes and designed gardens on Saturday, November 3 and Sunday, November 4, 10am-3pm daily. The Trustees’ Eleanor Cabot Bradley Estate, the Mary Wakefield Estate, and Historic New England’s Eustis Estate will open their grounds to visitors to celebrate the fall season with landscape and garden tours, nature crafts, seasonal beverages and treats, and activities for the whole family.

The property is filled with features that birds like, including a pond, meadows, an orchard, tall trees, and chimneys. Learn about the interesting species that thrive in these unique habitats.

Be prepared for wet, uneven ground and some uphill terrain. Bring binoculars and a field guide if you have them.
