A walk through Quincy Center takes you on a voyage through time from the earliest colonial days, to the era of the Adams, Quincy and Hancock families, and to Quincy's decades of the national center of granite quarrying and building. Adams and Hancock Streets in Quincy Center are part of one of the oldest roads in America.
The Blue Hill Adventure & Quarry Museum leads this guided hike of the Quincy Quarries Reservation includes visit to the first commercial railway in America, the Granite Railway Incline (1828) and the Lyons Turning Mill (1893). This six mile tour is recommended for intermediate to advanced hikers. Departs at 10am and expected to return at 3pm. Advance registration required. Join the Friends of the Blue Hills to enjoy the outdoors with your children during our bi-weekly Peek a Blue Hikes series. These hikes will occur every other Tuesday at 11:00 am, weather permitting. Bring your tots to Houghton’s Pond for a leisurely stroll to explore the outdoors. Participants will enjoy healthy snacks, juice and water and everyone is invited to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy after the hike concludes.
Join the Friends of Wollaston Beach in the seawater ice bucket challenge to raise funds for ALS and awareness for the improved water quality of Wollaston Beach. This event will take place on the beach across from the Tot Lot at the intersection of East Elm Ave. Lil Miss Sophia performs live music from 6:30-7:30pm. All are welcome to join in the Ice Bucket Challenge. Sign up begins at 6pm. Ice Bucket Challenge is scheduled for 7pm. Donations are welcome, but not required for participation.
For over fifty years the South Shore Neptunes dive club has attracted members from all over eastern Massachusetts. Today our membership includes over 130 sports divers ranging in age from 16 to 70. Our members occupations include students, fishermen, business executives and commercial divers. While some of our members have been diving for years, others are brand new to the sport. Club members can introduce you to a new world of divers and diving experiences. The cost of membership is low, and the benefits are many.
