Upcoming Road Races in Quincy

Quincy has an active running community operating seven road races this fall.

Feel the Beat logoSaturday, September 12, 10am at Pageant Field: 1st Annual Feel The Beat 5K Run/Walk and Kid Fun Run! This race is being held in loving memory of Claire “Joni” Brennan, to continue her kindness and generosity towards others by providing non-medical support to families with children affected by heart disease. Registration can be done at feelthebeatfoundation.org. Registration is $25 for adults ($30 at the race) and $10 for children. This includes a 1st Annual Feel The Beat 5k t shirt, entrance into the 5k and/or Kid Fun Run, and a celebration to follow!

SaSterling Middle School exteriorturday, September 26, 9am at Sterling Middle School: Annual 5K Run Walk  Registration begins at 8:30am behind the school. $10 for adults, $5 for children under 18. Family maximum $25. Proceeds benefit the Sterling Middle School Education Fund. For more information, call 617-984-8729. Rain date October 3.

 

 

 

Sunday, September 27, 10City of Presidents Walk Run Logo 2015am at Pageant Field: 2nd Annual City of Presidents 5K Run Walk  
The 3.1 mile course spans the perimeter of the park with scenic views of the Wollaston Beach Reservation and Black’s Creek. Register online at www.cityofpresidents5k.racewire.com. Adult registration fee is $25. Student (grades 5-12) reigstration fee is $10. Proceeds from the event will benefit Quincy Public Schools’ health & wellness programs. Following the race, the Quincy Public Schools culinary students will cater a cookout for participants, volunteers and their families at Adams Field. Awards ceremony, games, DJ, bouncy houses and fun giveaways are all part of the post-race festivities at the field.

Smegs Legs Run logoSaturday, October 10, 9am at Broad Meadows Middle School: 7th Annual Smegs Legs Run
This 5 Mile Run is a relatively flat, scenic loop that swings through the area of Houghs Neck, Quincy with beautiful ocean and marsh views along the route. New 2 Mile Run for Grades 5-8 students only! For those who don't wish to run, there is a 2 mile walk. Broad Meadows Alum LT. JG Chris Smeglin was 24 years old when he was tragically killed in an accident while training for a triathalon. Proceeds benefit The Chris Smeglin Memorial Fund, which raises money for three local charities. There will be pre and post-race refreshments, and many fun raffles.

Sunday, October 18, 10Quincy Animal Shelter Cause for Paws Run Walk logoam at Squantum Point Park: 7th Annual Cause4Paws 5k run and 1 mile dog walk!
The most popular fundraiser for the all volunteer run Quincy Animal Shelter departs Marina Bay. Registration fee is a $30 donation (children under 12 are free). You do not have to walk or run to support the shelter. Tons of local vendors will be there with prizes, raffles and refreshments!  The Quincy Police Department will also be onsite with a K9 demonstration as well as many more activities to keep you busy! There is also something special to the Best Dog Halloween or celebrity lookalike costume contest! This year's event is emceed by Fox 25's Heather Hegedus. 

 

Thursday, NTurkey Trotovember 26: Thanksgiving Turkey Trots

  • 8:00am at Merrymout Beach, Shore Ave
    This  2.5 mile Run/Walk is hosted annually by The Merrymount Association. Rain or Shine. $10 Entry Fee. T-shirts to participants who pre-register. Prizes for winners, refreshments and water stops. Number pick-up and race day registration begins at 7am.
    9:00am at the Nickerson Post, 20 Moon Island Road
    This 14th Annual 3 mile Fun Run/Walk is hosted by the Squantum July Fourth Parade Committee.  Entrance fee: $20 fee includes long sleeved T-shirt (first 100 entrants) and refreshments. $10 fee for ages 16 and under. Sign up Thanksgiving morning at the Post starting at 8am.
