Call for Artisans for Discover Quincy's Holiday Pop Up Shop 2017

Tuesday, October 31, 2017 - 12:14am

Calling all local artisans! Thanks to a local business, Discover Quincy welcomes local artists with the opportunity to show and sell their work at our temporary retail location during the holiday season. Priority will be given to Quincy area artists to sell unique, handmade works; art, ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry, metalwork, mixed media, photography, woodwork and more. The Discover Quincy Holiday Pop Up Shop at 1534 Hancock Street, the former Payless Shoe Source, will be open to the public daily 11am - 7pm from December 6-17, 2017. In 2016, Discover Quincy showcased 60+ local artisans, selling $20,000 of their products in the twelve days we were open to the public. We expect this year to be even better! Participating is free, however, artisans are expected to volunteer a minimum of four hours and will be charged a 10% sales commission to help cover the event expenses. We also welcome local non-profit organizations and will waive commissions for their participation. "This event is about supporting arts and culture, the creative economy, and our community. Discover Quincy is an organization that prides itself on inclusiveness and collaboration with local organizations in efforts to build a stronger sense of community amongst our partners and volunteers for the benefit of our residents and visitors", says Margaret Laforest, Vice President of the Quincy Chamber of Commerce. For more information, please call 617-639-1117 or email Margaret.
