This charming colonial estate - parts of which date to 1685 - was home to generations of Quincys, one of Massachusetts' leading families whose descendants included President John Quincy Adams and Oliver Wendell Holmes.The estate was also the childhood home of Dorothy Quincy, wife of John Hancock, the first signer of the Declaration of Independence and first governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. During the pre-Revolutionary War years, the Quincy Homestead was a meeting place for patriots such as John Adams, Josiah Quincy, Benjamin Franklin and Hancock.

Taste Quincy! OKTOBERFEST

McYintire Mall next to Quincy City Hall
A fun filled day for the whole family! Magicians, Jugglers, entertainers and farm animals plus great food and beer! Live bavarian music throughout the day as well as other fun activities like pumpkin carving, face painting and sidewalk art. Quincy Restaurants will be there in full force with their delectable goodies for you to enjoy! Special guest Anthony Acito from High School Musical!

Quincy Veterans' Day Parade
10:30 a.m.
Hancock St.
Parade steps off from Hancock and School streets and continues to the Adams Academy, 8 Adams St. for Veterans' Day ceremonies.

Annual Holiday Lighting Ceremony
Downtown Quincy becomes a Winter Wonderland ablaze with 10,000 lights and holiday decorations at this annual event featuring a puppet show, Christmas Carols, a brief appearance by Santa and more.

Santa's Arrival by Parachute
12:30 p.m.
Pageant Field
One Merrymount Parkway (Route 3A)
Costumed characters will arrive by fire engine at 11:30 a.m. to hand out candy canes to the children. After his arrival by parachute, Santa and his elves will ride the fire engine through downtown Quincy to the Quincy Center fire station.

This much-anticipated holiday tradition features dozens of bands, floats, clowns, antique autos and entertainment, attracting more than 200,000 spectators along the parade’s three-mile route.
