The Adams National Historical Park

The Park is Officially Open for the Summer Season!

The Visitor's Center will be open daily from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Tours are $5 and children under 16 are free.  The last tour departs at 3:15 p.m. Visit www.nps.gov/adam for more information.

Quincy Farmers Market Open for the Season!

The Quincy Farmers' Market is in full operation at the Hancock Lot across from the Court House off Chestnut Street. Visit them every Friday from 11:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

The Revere Rd. Road Work is not interfering with the market's operation, except that driving by you may not spot the farmers' colorful tents. The construction company waters the area daily which prevents dust from travelling into the market.

Quincy Bay Race Week

July 22-25, 2010

The 71st annual Quincy Bay Race Week will start on July 22, 2010. This prestigious race features South Shore children from Marshfield, Scituate, Norwell, Hanover, Hingham, Hull, Weymouth, Braintree, and Quincy. The boat parade is on Sunday, July 25 and starts at 1:00 p.m. from Town River Yacht Club, culminating at Squantum Yacht Club.  Visit www.qbrwa.org for more information.

The 16th annual Food Fest will be held Tuesday July 27th 2010 at The Ocean Club in Marina Bay, Quincy, MA at 6 pm.

Now in its 16th year, the Food Fest features the finest local restaurants, bakeries, and wine distributors on the South Shore. There will also be a live and silent auction, a raffle, and door prizes. In the past, featured auction and raffle items have been autographed sports memorabilia, concert tickets, and vacations. Proceeds from the event will directly benefit the individuals and families served by Father Bill's & MainSpring.

As a young couple in love, John and Abigail delighted in the beauty and privacy offered by one of Boston`s historic island treasures.  Join the famous couple as they return to Grape Island, the scene of their youthful tryst.  Become John and Abigail`s traveling companions on the "Old Coast Road."  Tour the John Adams Birthplace and the childhood home of Abigail Adams.  Then embark upon the Abigail for a festive picnic on Grape Island.  A limited number of guests may travel to the Hingham Shipyard via the National Park Service Trolley, stopping at John and Abigail`s home in Quincy, and Abigail`s home in Weymouth.

Weather permitting, this program begins at 9:30 am and returns at 2:30 pm.  Guests may choose to take the 11:40 am public ferry from the Hingham Shipyard to Grape Island to participate only in the on-island portion of the program from 12:00 pm-1:30 pm.

Beginning at the Adams National Historical Park Visitor Center, 1250 Hancock Street, Quincy, MA,  this program is presented by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), the Boston Harbor Islands National Park Area, the Abigail Adams Historical Society, and the Adams National Historical Park.  Reservations are required and space is limited.  For more information, please contact the Adams NHP Visitor center at 617-770-1175.

About the Race:
- 10k run, very flat course, which includes a distance of approximately three miles along Quincy Shore Drive and a panoramic view of the city of Boston.
- 5k run very flat course, which encompasses the shoreline.
- 5k walk, identical to the 5k run.
- A free Fun run for kids (2-10 years of age)
- USATF Certified Course.

All events will begin and end outside Adams Field on Merrymount Parkway. All pre and post events will be held at Pageant Field.
